Don't Hold Your Breath

This is pretty cool! Someone posted a video for the #pearljam poster I designed! Looks way better than what my outdated phone can do.
It also shows how the image changes depending on what angle you look at it. A jpeg can’t really do that so well…

Hey check it out. I designed all the art and collateral for this year’s WARPED TOUR! If you live in a city that has a Journeys it’s likely you’ll see my work on display. My mind is still blown when people send me photos from their city of the display. It’s like being on tour but never having to leave my cave!
I was really stoked when Kevin Lyman, Kerrie and Julie called and asked if I’d be interested in the project. Working with them again was a blast and they let me go nuts and try out the collage style I’ve been noodling with. After some dusting off the cobwebs of my overstuffed brain I realize it’s the seventh Warped Tour project I’ve done with them since they tapped me to do posters in 2004! Very humbling and flattering that they’d want to work with me so many times. Thank you!
If you’re going to the show in Cincinnati July 16th I will be there. Possibly doing a signing. Gotta hammer that out still.
If you’re at a mall can you snap some shots of the display and send them to me or tag me in them? It’d be cool to see which cities this will be in.

You can see more of the Warped Tour art I’ve done over the years on my site HERE and HERE.

BRIANEWING:

Hey guys check this out. Here’s a trailer to a documentary that I’m in. It features three illustrators - Andrew Bawidamann, Eric Fortune and Brian Ewing and explores what a career in illustration looks like from our very different perspectives. It also has interviews with Becky Cloonan (swoon!), Brom, Adam Hughes, Coop!, Wm. Stout, Doug Paszkiewicz, Tara McPherson, Jon Foster, and many more.

The film will make it’s official debut at Spectrum Fine Arts Live with a Q&A panel involving the filmmakers and the three artists. Check out the film’s facebook page to get all the updates.

I decided to expand on the monster series and add some movies that weren’t part of the canon of the better-known Universal Monsters. They are… but most people don’t remember this movie. Werewolf of London was the first American mainstream werewolf movie and was done six years before Lon Chaney Jr., slapped a bunch of hair all over his face and started barking at the moon in The Wolf Man. Jack Pierce did the make up for both movies (as well as a bunch more including Frankenstein and Bride Of…) so you know it was awesome! I really need to start doing pub quiz or something. All this useless knowledge…

Frida was a defiant and radical surreal folk artist who ended up influencing so many people way past her death in 1954. If Frida were born later, she would have a bootleg copy of the Smiths first album playing in the background as she went on her path to self-discovery with her self portraits and torrid marriage to Diego Rivera. The bones listed in the poster call out the injuries she sustained when she was 18. Kahlo was riding in a bus that collided with a trolley car. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident, including a broken spinal column, a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, eleven fractures in her right leg, a crushed and dislocated right foot, and a dislocated shoulder. Also, an iron handrail pierced her abdomen and her uterus, compromising her reproductive capacity. Thank you wikipedia!
