BRIANEWING:
What they said…
For the past year (I think…) a film crew has been following me and two other art dorks. Here’s a new video sneak from that. You should check it out. The film is called “Making It” and has a fancy facebook page and junk. Making It

What is this film about???? (PART 2)
We’d like to share our “Meet the Filmmakers” clip for the Documentary “MAKING IT”. YES, we actually have video to share, instead of pictures. WooHooo!!!
We’er currently still in production, and I haven’t yet logged all our footage.
This is just a taste of what the film might be like, as far as look, tone, and pacing.
We still have a few more interviews and San Diego Comic Con to film. But we’re nearly finished with production, and at this moment getting ready for post production.
A quick thank you to our guys; the crew, the folks at Spectrum, and anyone and everyone who gave up their time to be in or help out with this Documentary.
Thank you.

Hey guys I just found out the Just Like Being There documentary I was interviewed for is finally on netflix. I haven’t even seen it until today! It’s kinda weird to see myself talking….on netflix! So weird…freaking out. But I’m very proud to see all my friends and colleagues get a chance to be seen and heard. Now we’re all gonna be rich…right?
If you dig rock posters, movie posters and art prints then this flick is for you! It’s a pretty decent and covers what was going on in rock posters over the past few years. The doc centers on three artists Kevin Tong, Jay Ryan and Daniel Danger… all super-rad guys and artists… so I’m happy to have even made it in. I sound all smart and junk. Not an easy feat!
Check it out if you have time. Let Scout know what you think of this film. I for one want to do another gig poster after watching it. What’s it gonna make you want to do? Maybe they’ll do a sequel and call it “Just Like Ewing There”?!?!

I decided to expand on the monster series and add some movies that weren’t part of the canon of the better-known Universal Monsters. They are… but most people don’t remember this movie. Werewolf of London was the first American mainstream werewolf movie and was done six years before Lon Chaney Jr., slapped a bunch of hair all over his face and started barking at the moon in The Wolf Man. Jack Pierce did the make up for both movies (as well as a bunch more including Frankenstein and Bride Of…) so you know it was awesome! I really need to start doing pub quiz or something. All this useless knowledge…

So excited to finally post this image. The poster had been in the works for months - due to Morrissey’s cancellation and rescheduling of his tour.
Everyone seems to always do a portrait of Morrissey when designing a poster for him. I wanted to do something different and focus on his fans. Moz’s fans emulated him and the album art his former band, the Smiths, used. Whether in their melancholic disenchanted view of being young or by the way they pomped their hair and cuffed their jeans. The dissected image of Frida manages to convey both of those ideas. She was a defiant and radical surreal folk artist who ended up influencing so many people way past her death in 1954. If Frida were born later, she would have a bootleg copy of the Smiths first album playing in the background as she went on her path to self-discovery with her self portraits and torrid marriage to Diego Rivera.
The bones listed in the poster call out the injuries she sustained when she was 18. Kahlo was riding in a bus that collided with a trolley car. She suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident, including a broken spinal column, a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a broken pelvis, eleven fractures in her right leg, a crushed and dislocated right foot, and a dislocated shoulder. Also, an iron handrail pierced her abdomen and her uterus, compromising her reproductive capacity. Thank you wikipedia!
I hope you guys know some Spanish - scattered throughout the poster are quotes Frida is most well-known for. One of my favorites would be “I hope the exit is joyful — and I hope never to return — Frida”. Thanks to my homegal @crankbunny for the proper translations to Spanish.
**I’m gonna have a small contest. The first 4 people to PURCHASE THE POSTER and translate ALL of the quotes (in English) and email them to me brian(at)brianewing.com will get a special colorway of the print. The printer sent me 1 copy of the poster on black, red, yellow and pink paper. I’m not going to sell these. So this is your only chance to get one… or you can check ebay (grumblegrumble). Entries will be checked against names of the people who ordered the print. If you’re not on that list - you’re not eligible.**

I collaborated with animator CRANKBUNNY to create a nerdy and awesome Valentine scratch-off card.
The card reveals a secret message* underneath a heart within a skeletal chest cavity. It can be used for more than just a traditional Valentine’s card. Use the card to break up with someone. Tell them they’re fired. Or just to pay your rent late. Great for someone you love or hate any time of the year. Soften the blow or sweeten the deal…and be awesome while doing it!
Choose from four different secret messages.
*1. Your Coffin Or Mine
*2. Your Heart Belongs To Me
*3. My Body’s A Zombie For You
*4. I’ve Got A Heart On For You
